Open Xchange server is basically an open source project that is sponsored by Open- X change Inc. All collaboration software like mails and calendars are developed using the server. Products that are created based on Open Xchange servers are marketed under the brand name Open-XChange and other names such as MailXchange, Network Solutions Business Email etc. The server is said to be a part of Lisog open source stack initiative.

The server is also partly an open source collaboration software stack that has features like web 2.0 email interfaces, contact list and other task management functions. The document management sharing options are also provided with it. The server has free property environment and standards such as the famous Microsoft outlook and Apple Isync.

The latest server provides social networking capabilities giving publish and subscribe capabilities to the user. Apart from the above listed uses, Open Xchange is a server that helps in portal view, team view, tasks lists, synchronization of Mac OS X applications through CardDAV and CalDAV and in editing of external E mail account like Yahoo and Google.
